Default Need a PT for a test subject

Hello,

My name is Lawrence and I am the owner of a company called WebElectric Products. I make aftermarket electronic gadgets to enhance the styling or safety of automobiles.

One of my products is a Brake Light Pulser that is used to pulse the third brake light in order to get the attention of the driver behind you. I have had a few customers with PT Cruisers purchase the generic wire-in kit, and they are happy with the results. I now have a plug-in kit for the Corvette that, as it sounds, just plugs into the third brake light with no splicing. I would like to do this for the PTs, but I don't have access to a car.

I would like to ask someone to volunteer their car as a test vehicle. I'm in Northeast Ohio, so I am asking for someone in this area to come to my place so I can look at the connectors in the car. I will have to remove the third brake light, look at it, take some pictures, etc. Then, I'll have to locate the correct connectors and make a prototype. After that, I will need this person to come back so I can test the device for proper operation. I will also need to take some pictures of the installation that I will use for the instructions. Of course, I would give a kit to the volunteer as compensation for their time.

If you are interested in helping me with this product, please email me at webeproducts@adelphia.net

Sincerely,

Lawrence

Lawrence,

It's too bad I'm a zillion miles from you. I'm the one who has your pulser on my custom made 4th brake light that I added to the rear wing. I get nothing but good comments about it. It was easy to install and it came with great instructions. I'll have to check out your site again to see which Corvettes you have the plug-in kit for. Mines an 87 coupe (C4).

...just checked the site. you only have the 97-2004 (C5) pre-wired kit.

Carey

Unfortunately your device isn't legal in California.

I disagree. My module flashes per the California regs, so there is no issue.

I don't know what regs you are referring to. The California Vehicle code makes it very clear that only proper emergengy vehicles can have flashing lights of any color any place on the vehicle.

I don't want to get into an argument over this (not my style), but I also don't want to leave this up in the air. Here is a link to the California Vehicle Code:

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/ca...odesection=veh

Go to Division 12, Chapter 2, Article 7 "Flashing and Colored Lights". Then go to 25251.5. Part (c). This says that you can have a flashing brake light, as long as it flashes within the timing guidelines.

My module flashes about 4 times in about 1 second, then stays on and cannot be re-triggered for at least 10 seconds. Would pass inspection? I think so, but those who live in California should check with their local inspectors first.

Any California Vehicle Lawyers in the house?

I install the pulsar on my 2005 PT GT convertible last summer. Very easy mod to install. Like Crewzin a lot of nice comments.
