when i put 2001 pt crusier in drive it's like it's in neutral after giving it gas a few times it kicks into drive. same for reverse. HELP PLEASE!!!

Welcome to the forum.

Your correct with the title of your post, you have transmission issues. When was the last time the fluid was checked/flushed? Lots of problems if you go too long without having it serviced and it does sound like you need service. Have it checked out by a reputable trans service place or your dealer...if you trust them.

Check the fluid level hot in park before you move another inch. If low put some in.
