Default Hello from cornwall , uk

Hello everyone,
my name is Sara and as you can see I live in the uk.
currently being shafted like an inmate by my beloved "Christine" (a mk 1 2ltr).
After waiting 10 yrs and saving like mad I finally bought myself a PT.....
I love her dearly......Unfortunately our affair only lasted 35 mins as that is , roughly how long she ran ..
I may be asking many, many questions..

Welcome to the forum, Sara. Is your PT a petrol or diesel engine? It will make a LOT of difference on getting the answers you need. They didn't sell the diesel setup here in the States. Dammit!

Welcome Sara!

I wonder if I am the only one here that can't wait to hear what is wrong. Hopefully we can get you on the right track quickly. I think the CRD is a 2.2, so this should be a petrol engine. Are they the same as Neon 2.2s?

Thank you for the lovely welcome
The story of "Christine" is a long one so i'll try and keep it short..
After picking her up , all excited and giddy, from the dealer I set off for the 5 mile journey home. two miles off home she stopped running and dumped all her water on the road.. after trying to call the dealer(and at the time a friend !) and getting no answer I had her towed
she went straight to a garage where I was told the water pump had gone !
she was put on a lift and that's where the fun started...
the cat was bodged up , the wheels- dangerous, brakes- dangerous , back light held in by blue tac..the list was endless and exspensive

long story short, and after weeks and weeks of battles and tears .Im left looking at her, sitting all pretty on the courtyard.. where she has sat not running for 3 months ....
she is a 2001 limited edition petrol auto 2ltr...
when I can figure out the how's i'll put up a pic , she really is very pretty

Welcome to the forum

Sorry to hear of your misfortune with your "Christine"

I hope you are able to get it running soon, PT's really are fun to drive, not just look at like you are now having to do with yours.

SOOO BIG and I welcome you to the Forum from Ormond Beach, Florida.

You've discovered this "stuff" after your acquisition of Christine. When SOOO BIG was bought I knew his foibles going in and used them as a bargaining chip on his purchase price. Using that "reserve" savings I've made every necessary correction finding the right people, at reasonable prices, to expedite his rise from the ashes to the SOOO BIG he is now.

Everything on Christine's to do list was on his and then some. He's a happy boy now and so am I.

If you went into it reasonably as far as pounds spent, it'll be a rewarding result.

To access the bad water pump you should do the timing belt trick at the same time . Reasonably the whole of that nut shouldn''t be more than the pound equivalent of $700.00. All the other stuff you've mentioned'll be another $500 to $1000. Somethin' worth doin' if affordable, 'cause driving a fine PT is the bright light at the end of the tunnel.

Good luck with Christine.

Happy Ptin', ptprice
