Default New 2007 PT Cruiser Owner in Florida

Hi! After having own an old Ford Focus station wagon, the husband found a 2007 PT Cruiser which was really cheap and looked really good. We'd never envisioned owning one... mostly because I kept calling it the hearse whenever we saw one. I have to say that the whole family has fallen in love with the car.

However, we've had the car since Wednesday, this past Wednesday and already had to put in new tires and brakes. Which I guess it's normal when buying from a used car dealership. They did give us a new battery. But this morning, we noticed the malfunction indicator light went off. I've been coming to the forum since we got the car, so I decided to register. We had a little scare this morning thinking the battery was leaking but it seemed to be an anti-corrosion liquid. (Red liquid over the connectors)

Any idea what could cause the light to go off if it's not the battery and everything else seems to be fine? We're not due to see our mechanic until a week from Monday.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum

Well, there are some PT's that have been converted into a hearse, so you're not far off from your initial impression of the PT. Maybe not a bad way to go to your final resting place

Do you mean the Check Engine light has come on? You can go by most auto parts stores and they can read any stored codes for you, for free, and reset the light.

Hi thanks for the heads up. And I'm not sure it's this one.

That is your check engine light, almost any auto parts store and some auto mechanic shops will hook up a "scanner" and run the codes for free.
