Default greetings from central PA

been lurking around the forum for a few months gathering up information before pulling the trigger and purchasing a cruiser. This morning I pulled the trigger and picked up a 2004 PT GT with "a broken off spark plug in cylinder #3" ...... turns out that a broken off spark plug to some people is a tap or extractor that has been broken off. Tried for a little bit to use a bolt extractor to get the broken piece out with no luck, so the new plain of action is to pull the head and see if it comes out easier off the car or to put a spare head that a buddy has from his SRT4 neon.

Thanks for the information and knowledge. Going to snap and post some photos in a few weeks after all of the parts arrive

Welcome to the forum from the great sovereign state of Arkansas!

If you will take and post a photo of what you see down in the spark plug well, some of the members here may be able to give you some recommendations on how to remove the plug without removing the head.

I'll try to remember to get one the next time I go over to the garage. I already purchased the head gasket kit (with new head bolts), a water pump, and a timing set online because I figure while its apart.....

I find it ironic that the colors red, white, and blue stand for freedom until they are flashing behind you.

Welcome to the Forum.

If what you see is that plug's been drilled through and an extractor inserted without success, can you back out the first extractor and insert a larger one? If not, Can you drill the plug out to a larger diameter so that your removing the softer plug metal to remove the first extractor. I'd hold a narrow vacuum nozzle near the drill to catch the shavings.I wouldn't rotate the engine till you find out what kind a crap might have fallen into that combustion chamber. If there's chunks in there maybe you can snag 'em with a magnet when you get the plug out. Hopefully little shavings should blow out with the first exhaust cycles. If not the head removal might be a sensible move.

Not sure about how many owners.I think I'm the third owner. Purchased February 2017.
Changed engine oil and Trans filter and fluid.
Changed the washer nozzles.
Waiting for the weather to change and Then I will change the timing belt and water pump, Motor Mounts All. Brakes. Bell crank. and I am sure I will find other little things to change.
I love this car! it's the only car I have ever gone looking for. instead of just looking for best used car at the best price. magoo NC
