Default New to the forum, old PT...

So, I'm relatively new to the forum. Made my first post a few days ago but have used the info in the forum a number times to help with troubleshooting.

I've got a 2001 PT I bought new. So I've had it for about 16 years now. I saw them in an article in Parade magazine back then and decided I needed to get one. It reminded me of late 30's / early 40's Fords that my Dad always was fond of.

Its been fairly reliable but I had a few issues along the way:

- its got 235k miles on it
- transmission rebuilt twice
- timing chain broke about 100k miles and replaced
- front tie rod ends replaced twice
- replaced the leaking radiator a few years ago
- replace radiator fan 2 or 3 times
- recently replaced oil pressure switch to fix leak and oil light coming on while idling (that was a pain to reach and especially to put the new one back in...)
- recently -lots of noise / rattles from the rear
- replaced shocks, brake pads, bell crank, watts links, sway links and the noise is gone and its handling much better

I've done most of the work myself excluding the transmission replacements and timing chain.

This forum has really helped me troubleshoot and diagnose various problems, most recently that the AC low pressure switch/sensor was bad. The new switch was $20 and I switched it out in 10 minutes.

Last annoying problem is the windshield washer pump is bad. Chrysler dealership wanted $130 for a new pump that had to be ordered. I found one on ebay for $10. Its coming from China and I'm a little dubious about actually getting the part but we'll see...

Thanks again to the folks that have posted all the great info over the years...
