Default door lock/ alarm key fob?

Hello out there.....Smokee here from Mesa, AZ. I bought a 2003 Pt Cruiser last year and the lot I bought it from told me my year Pt didn't come with a key fob. I asked around and found out that was BS.....

So, can I still get the door lock/ alarm key fob, or do I have to buy a whole new system?

I love this little car.....and that saying a lot ! I'm 6'5" and 265 lbs ! Its got a few problems but nothing I cant live with.

I am looking for a set of deep dish chrome reverse wheels to make it look Retro Mod style. Know where I can find any??

Welcome to the forum from Southern California.

Have you taken the VIN number to the dealer to find out what modules your Pt Cruiser has?

.......not yet; but I have been all over youtube asking the same questions....

Ebay sells several different kinds of after market kits for key less access and alarms. I think my car had one because sometimes when I close the door without turning off the lights, the hoen starts beeping and the 4 way blinkers go off.

I bought a Hayes manual and it says my year and model DID have a passive alarm w/a key less entry fob. Local auto parts store wants $120 for a DYI kit; BUT they wont warranty it.

Rock Auto list one for my VIN for $60. Thought I would check your Forum before I bought the Rock Auto one.....

I can't help you until you get a report from the dealer but maybe another member can help you.

Welcome to the forum from Texas.

When I bought my '01 LE Cruiser, the fob was gone. Earlier this year I was at a local lot and a couple of first gen Cruisers still had the fob hanging on the keychain. I grabbed one and the RKE box from the center of the dash.

There was a member here that used to always has one or two of these units for sale.

Be sure and go to the new members section and tell us more about you and your Cruiser.

Ya know you can go to the following link and get an 'Equipment List' for your VIN by just typing it in.

https://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.html

That should tell you if your car came with the remote door locks/alarm system for which a keyfob would be used.

I got a spare key fob for my convertible from a local savvy Locksmith.

On the Chrome Reverse wheels, way back in 2001 I got my 15x7 chrome smoothies from https://www.wheelvintiques.com/wheels/fwd.html not exactly Chrome Reverse, but the best I could find.

Alass they only offer 15x6" now which I don't like.

I'd really like to find another 15x7" set like I have on my 02 for my 05 conv.

The easiest way to tell if your car has a remote keyless entryis, if the inside door doesnt have the lock/unlock button, your car didnt come with it.I have a base model 2005 that has no keyless and thus no button on the inside door panel.
