Default Hello from Crete, IL

Just bought my first PT Cruiser for $100 from a kid at work that was going to cut it up and use as a.....couch? . I stepped in and saved this one from assured destruction.
It's a 2004 Touring Edition with 122k mi and believe they call it Graphite Metallic in color (posted pic). He parked it about a year ago after the timing belt broke. His mom just "wanted it gone".
I've been a Chrysler fan all my life, my daily driver is currently a 99 300M that I have upgraded with factory stuff available in later models (i.e. Sirius radio, HID headlights), not afraid to get my hands dirty.
I plan to get this one up and running before winter. There is a laundry list of things not right with this PT, most of it is minor cosmetic or electrical problems, but need to get it running first and worry about what's on that list later.

Welcome to the forum

It's sitting upright and on 4 tires, you could part it out for more than you paid for it

Hello from Darien Illinois. I've been to Crete before. I bought a Mustang from a guy named Nick that had a shop full of toys in Crete across the street from the public storage place. I used to but random parts of him often. He had a mustang and his buddy had a Monte Carlo. There was also a model A and a few other neat cars in there. Fun area in a hillbilly kinda way from what I remember

Welcome to the forum. If you do the work yourself, you can have a decent riding, fun to drive machine for under a $1,000. And that's the way to do it.

Ignorance can be educated, crazy can be medicated but there's no fixing stupid!

Hello from Texas, a nice project car you have there! Take your time with that timing belt and water pump and all else in there. Don't forget new motor mounts. There are a few things in that job that are small stuff also. Just don't get pissed, walk away and come back to it. It will take some time but enjoy the fact that you did it and you no it's all correct.

Glad to see you are saving that one. Looks like my RATMOBILE. I see that it has some rust in the same places as mine.
