Default Greetings and my cross country experience.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry that my english is not good but I'll do my best. I want to share my last experience driving from side to side this wonderful country. First of all I want to say HI! to everybody, my name is Gabriel and a few months ago I got a PT Cruiser 2003 GT Turbo with 87,000 Miles on the odometer, this car belonged to an old lady that kept the car all the time in the garage (she bought it new in the sunny California), because of her condition she wasn't able to keep driving and the PT was parked for years. Long story short I got the car at the beginning of this year but it stayed in California (and I'm in New York). I have never posted anything on any forum but because the PT Cruiser is still a legend for many people I decided to share this. I really don't know the car or any other people closer to me that can gave me a feedback, all I know is information from basically youtube videos where people post all kinds of repairs and improvements to this car. I have a lot to learn and this forum is an excellent source of information.

This is not my first time traveling from CA to NY; 9 years ago I did it with a 4Runner Limited 1998 and I remembered that I did 3 and half days from one Wednesday @ midday to a Saturday arriving in New Jersey (Bloomfield) by 3 A.M. (The starting point was not San Diego but Ensenada in Baja California)

This time I kept the PT in Ensenada with a mechanic that I know for years and he replaced:

Timing belt (with the tensioner).
Water pump.
Heater Core.
EGR Valve.
New thermostat.
Radiator flushed.
Motor and transmission fluid changed.
Valve cover gasket.
Spark plugs.
Motor mounts.
Installed rear sway bar.

I went last week to pick up the PT and I bought a set of Hankook tires 215/50zR17 95W XL.

That said, my trip started in Ensenada (around 68 miles south of the border in Baja) on Wednesday 22nd at 1:00 PM. I crossed the San Ysidro border at 3:00 PM, by 3:30 I was on route to NY. Here is the time and stops:

Ensenada, Baja California Wed @ 1 P.M.
San Ysidro, California @ 3:30 PM
Sentinel Rest Area Arizona @ 11:45 P.M.
------- 362 Miles ------------
From Sentinel Rest Area to Amarillo TX @ 12:58 A.M.
------- 801 Miles ------------
From Amarillo TX on Friday to Rolla MO @ 12:30 A.M.
------- 655 Miles ------------
From Rolla MO to South Midway Travel Plaza, PA @ 1:25 A.M.
------- 798 Miles ------------
From Midway Travel Plaza, PA to Queens NY @ 12:00 P.M. on Sunday
------- 291 Miles ------------

Total Miles: 2,907 Miles
Gas (Aprox): $340.00
Oil Consumption: Half Quarter.

Have a wonderful week!!
