You need to cultivate an acquaintance at somewhere like Ramstein or Mannheim US bases - they're allowed to ship German bought cars back to the States IIRC. The steering wheel will be on the correct side, top specs with heated leather is very common, and they really do go for peanuts in nice condition over here if you dig around.

Just to give you an idea - use Google translate

After 2 and a half years and roughly 9000km its time to move on. I sold my PT a week ago to a nice gentlemen who needed a replacement car.

The PT was great to drive, lots of fun. Sometimes it had an attitide towards reliability, but overall not too bad for a fifteen year old car.

Now I'm carless - for the first time since I got my first own car in 2002

It must be hard to let a reliable car to let go. Good luck for the new car hunt.

Yup, but there was no sense in holding on to it. The PT stood most of the time, was driven once or twice a month at max. Since we don't own a garage it stood outside all the time and some spots started to get rusty .

Thanks, but for now, no car just for me. We replaced our family car a couple of weeks ago, too, and cannot currently afford a second one. Since I hardly drive anymore that is luckiliy not an issue

Oh, haha! When we moved, we have to sell our car. I was carless for two months and it was hard to resist the driving itch.
