Default Wine Country Cruisers Scavenger Hunt

Hey everyone - happy October!

This is the final reminder of the Wine Country Cruiser Great Discover Sonoma County Scavenger Hunt, being held on October 19th.

If you are planning to join us for this fun-filled day, I need to know by 10/16 at the latest - I need to be sure to have enough materials available for the event.

Here are the full details:

On Sunday, October 19, the Wine Country Cruisers will welcome Cruiserfolk for a great day of cruising. We'll be sending you out on a hunt throughout Sonoma County, looking for interesting items and info while enjoying the scenery. We'll end the day with a picnic in a park, where we'll hold a raffle and present scavenger hunt prizes.

Here's the day's schedule:

10:30 am - Meet at the park and ride lot in Cotati (directions at the bottom of this email). Sign in and receive instructions, clue sheets, and directions to ending meeting place. Buy raffle tickets. We'll have Sonoma County maps for each entry, as well as several phone books for you to look at while at the meeting place.

11:00 am - After a drivers' meeting, head out and about, looking for the scavenger hunt items. Feel free to snack as you're out.

4:30 pm - Cars will begin to gather at the ending meeting place, the Oak Knolls Picnic Area at Spring Lake Regional Park in Santa Rosa ( directions at bottom of page ). Munch, potluck, or make arrangements to go out to dinner after the event - everyone is responsible for their own food. Buy more raffle tickets.

5:00 pm - Entries due. Turn in items and clue sheet.

5:30 pm - Raffle and award presentation. We have well over $1,000 in raffle prizes. There will be two entry divisions, one for locals and one for
folks from out of the area. First place in each division will be a trophy - second and third in each division will get a certificate.

The entry fee is $10, which includes a dash plaque, Sonoma County map, one raffle ticket, clue sheet and instructions, and entry into the event (Spring Lake Park entry fee not included). For a $5 discount, bring 3 or more cans of food, which will be donated to the Sonoma County Food Bank.

We will also be accepting additional food donations for the food bank. Also, if you can't make it to the Toy Drive on 12/6, you can still bring toy donations to this event.

Proceeds from the raffle will go to the Santa Rosa Fire Department's Toys for Kids program.

Again, be sure to let me know right away if you'll be coming.

Directions to starting meeting area (Cotati park and ride lot)
From the south: Take US Hwy 101 north past Petaluma. Take the Hwy 116 WEST exit in Cotati. At the end of the offramp, turn right (heading east). At the next light (Old Redwood Hwy), turn right. The park and ride lot is immediately to your right.

From the north:
Take US Hwy 101 south from Santa Rosa. Take the Hwy 116 WEST exit in Cotati. At the end of the offramp, turn left (heading east) and pass under the freeway. At the intersection with Old Redwood Hwy, turn right. The park and ride lot is immediately to your right.

Directions to ending meeting area (Spring Lake Regional Park, Santa Rosa) From Hwy 101 in Santa Rosa, take the Hwy 12 East exit (toward Sonoma). Shortly after you pass the county fairgrounds, the freeway comes to an end (at Farmer's Lane). Go straight through the intersection at Farmer's Lane - this puts you on Hoen Frontage Rd. Continue east on Hoen Frontage Rd for approximately 2 miles. At the intersection with Summerfield Rd, go straight. This takes you into a residential neighborhood. Take the first left (Newanga Ave) and follow the signs to Spring Lake Park. At the park entry station, pay the parking fee and ask for the Oak Knolls picnic area.
