Default Cold Air system in AZ with the rain

How many have turbo PT's here and run a cold air system? I am worried about the standing water and sucking water into the engine. Anyone here had a problem with that? Should I just stick to the K&N Drop-in? I was thinking about an airraid system. What do people from the land of the floods think?

I live in Oregon where rain keeps us green, tho it hasn't rained in the last 6+ weeks. I have a 2" hose next to the foglight up to my CAI and have driven through some pretty heavy rains in the winter and spring with no problem. High water would be a bummer but I stay away from that.

Yeah, the problem is in AZ when it rains all 12 days a year, it rains so fast that the streets run with 4-9" of water. That is why I am worried.

Sounds like you might get the Airaid and the hood that feeds cold air to it. You wouldn't have to worry about high water then.

My intake is the only one that I know of that you can change from the stock air box to one that sucks air from the fender well..

You can have the open air intake on your PT .. when it starts raining then take the 2nd pipe off.. connect the first pipe to the stock air box and you are done..

If you already have another open air filter intake on your PT the only thing I can tell you is when you go through a big puddle let off the gas.. then you are not sucking in air and will reduce your risk of sucking in water.. I wouldnt be worried about sucking in sand... any good filter will prevent that from happening..

Inferno, send me a pm with your number and I can show you my setup. Its a custom cold air setup I made. Drove through those nasty rains a couple weeks ago, no problems even when the water was drowning my intercooler. [B)]
