Default Lowered PT's

Just want to pass on to anyone who's lowered their PT or has plans on doing so.

This morning I had a new matched set of TOKICO struts and springs put on. These are made for lowered vehicles. I got the complete set for $216 (free shipping) off eBay. Cost me $60 to have them put on. I could have done the rears myself (easy) but it's too darn hot to work on the car down here.

Anyway, I wasn't expecting much but was greatly surprised at the ride quality the first time I took off. It's not a Cadillac, but much improved from what I had.

The place selling them doesn't have an auction right now but there's another auction for the same shocks/struts and free shipping right now. Here's a link.

eBay Motors: TOKICO HP Shocks Struts - 00-05 PT Cruiser (item 330106299282 end time Sep-01-07 16:54:42 PDT)

P.S. I have an appointment next Wednesday for an alignment. Definitely needs it after the installation.

Chris,

Sorry, never measured it before and after. When I bought my cruiser (Aug 2000) there was no aftermarket for the cruiser like there is today. I just happen to be thumbing thru one of my Super Street magazines and NOPI (big aftermarket for Ricers) had an ad for lowering springs and I saw PT Cruiser. I hated the large space in the wheel wells so I ordered them and put them on as my first mod, before there was talk about "modding your PT", before PT clubs and before PT Forums.

What is the difference in the 06-07 suspension than the 01-05's?

I don't know. Hopefully someone with more info on that will come along and answer your question.

It seemed that my '06 has a much stiffer suspension system than my '02 had. It is a Limited, maybe that is why.

I've been searching for questions on this for some time now. I want to lower my new 2006 'Vert, but everything is made for 01-05, and nothing is said about the '06 and newer cruisers at all.

If anyone does have any information on what (if anything) was changed from 2005 to 2006. I am betting there is no difference, but there is always the chance they ran out of some small part, and instead of getting more, they used something else instead. It's happened many times before...

Matt
