I have an 02 that needed to right front bearing at 75K. Luckly for me I was able to do all of the grunt work myself. I disassemebled the Knuckle from the rest of the car. A friend of mine has a press and a bunch of adaptors to press out the old and press in the new.
It only cost me the price of the new bearing and 6 pack.

We've got an 03 PT Limited with 67k miles on it. Just replaced the drivers side bearing this week. Original one was Timken part and was dry as a bone inside. A new made in the USA Timken was $32 at the local parts store. I have access to a hydraulic press so it wasn't too bad a job.
I've seen that this is a common failure and tried to identify what's different between the PT and my older Mopars (many of which have gone over 200k miles on original front wheel bearings). The only difference I could find was that the PT does not use a seal between the axle and the back of the bearing. Not sure if this is allowing moisture into the bearing and causing premature failure, but it's the best theory I could come up with. |

I think the bearings are around $45.00 is it that hard to install them?
Not a mech but that sounds out of line. |

we bought our cruiser with 145,000 on the clock.Maintence sheet says bearings was replaced at 52,000 and not since.Bearings are still quiet at 154,658 and no problems.Did put pads and rotors in it last year for the heck of it.Probably will put sway bar links in it this spring and maybe back brakes(thanks Alex). Are you guys that are eating bearings up run a bigger, offset wheel/tire combo?Doing really tight turnarounds?

2003 with 182k Replaced the front wheel bearings at around 95k. Bought the bearings online for less than $35.00 each. I replaced the left one and about a month later replaced the right. Both times it was about 2 hours from driving in to driving out.
