Wheels n tires for the unitiated

Newbie here, seeking guidance..

Just got my God daughter an 05 PT cruiser.. Stock, kinda a cream color with the factory wheels..

Wheels need to go..

Browsing, I've seen several I like, but especially the Americans in this thread but I am open to suggesations also..

So, before I go out and plunk down a bunch of cash on wheels n tires, what do I need to look for as far as what fits under the wheel-wells, offset etc? Not making it a race car, it will stay stock, but I'd like her car to have a bit of flash..

American Racing does do a nice wheel. Here's a place that has them in 15 and 16 inch sizes for the PT at a good price.

Like em.. I need to go to the office and verify the current tire size.. Car has new, not real exciting Michelins on it now.. Plan is to get some rims that may be a skoosh oversize for the existing tires so we can upgrade them when they wear out..

Thanks for the link.. The picture on their website of the PT with the aero package on it was a bad omen for my wallet though..

Madpoodle, seeing as it was my Cruiser you showed, thought that I would make a comment. The wheels that I put on my car are American Eagle 192 and they fit perfectly, I changed from the stock wheels (16 x 6.5 I think) to 16 x 7 with 225/50/R16 tires which have exactly the same diameter as the stock 205/55/R16 tires which is 24.9". If you click on my gallery you will see both tires and wheels on the car.

Love the look of them.. I'm sticking with the 15's for now, can't afford tires on top of the wheels on top of the car..
