Question Tires

Hi everyone.....
Do lower profile tires and rims cause a decrease in mpg? I have a 2006 and would like 17" rims and tires.
Thank you in advance

If you use the Plus 1 approach to going bigger, the overall circumference of the 17 inch tire and wheel will be almost exactly the same as the 16 inch so there's hardly any change to your MPH or MPG.

I went with the 17 inch GT wheel on my Limited Edition. I had 205x55R16 and put on 205x50R17. Using a tire resizing calculator, there an .8% difference or at 60mph the speedometer will 59.9mph

Usually, yes. The wider footprint causes more rolling resistance than a skinnier tire. There is some variation by tire brand/model - "stickier" tire compunds, etc., but all things equal your best mileage is given by a skinny tire.

I noticed a small drop in mine, I am running Kumho 225/45/17's and 245/40/18's on the back. I don't mind though. I think the better grip is really worth it.
