Ball Joint Replacement: Still having problems

I read about ball joints in a previous thread, but I still need to know if the ball joint is replaceable and how to remove it from the control arm. We tried heating and hammering. And if it is that hard to remove, how the heck do you put the replacement in????

So far I have had 3 different assessments of the suspension. One said: nothing's wrong! One replaced the front struts but did nothing else. And the dealer --- found $1100 worth of repairs needed and said THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. (due to tierod and ball joint)

The ball joint is "loose in the control arm". But it AIN'T coming out without a fight.

Any suggestions?

The ball joint should be a press fit to the arm. You will need a shop to remove and press in the new one for you.

i'm in new carlisle.
well, we've replaced wheels (chrome peeling), struts, anti sway bushings, tie rod ends, rear shocks and ... I think that is it so far. My 96 S10 pickup still rides better. I've never had a car that rode so clunky. \
I keep hoping the next repair will miraculously make this ride like the Cadillac Biarritz that I was driving 3 years ago LOL! But nothing rides like a Caddy. I'd settle for it riding like a normal car.
