I'm pretty sure 205x50x17 is the normal tire size for the GT wheel which is only 6 inches wide so I would think your 205 is too thin for your 7 1/2 inch wheel.
225x45x17 would put the tire size really close to the original size so your speedometer and odometer wouldn't be too far off. Just because it's 5 lug doesn't mean it's going to fit. Make sure the space between the lugs is 100mm.

Ok thanks alot CREWZIN and I thanks for the tip for me to check the space between the lugs, I'll do that I guess I will take them to a tire place first and see if they can tell me the size of that space and if they will fit

went from 15 to 17" wheels and have 225/45/17 on them.that will be same diameter as stock tires and speedo is 100% accurate. any other size knocks speedo off and i am too lazy to try and remember that going down the road.
lug pattern is 5x100 so make sure and get that checked. ron

I have 225/45/17 on the front too and like everyone else has said, It is about perfect!
