Default Newbie with Wheel/Tire Size Question

Hello I know someone whom wants to sell me some 17" rims I believe they are 17x7.5 and I know they are 5 lugs. Not exactly sure what tire size would fit. So my question is someone I was talking to mentioned this tire size 205/45 -17, is that bad or good I have no clue.

If not can you recommend a tire size for a 17 inch rim or a 17x7.5 inch rim?

I'm pretty sure 205x50x17 is the normal tire size for the GT wheel which is only 6 inches wide so I would think your 205 is too thin for your 7 1/2 inch wheel.

225x45x17 would put the tire size really close to the original size so your speedometer and odometer wouldn't be too far off.

Just because it's 5 lug doesn't mean it's going to fit. Make sure the space between the lugs is 100mm.

Ok thanks alot CREWZIN and I thanks for the tip for me to check the space between the lugs, I'll do that I guess I will take them to a tire place first and see if they can tell me the size of that space and if they will fit

went from 15 to 17" wheels and have 225/45/17 on them.that will be same diameter as stock tires and speedo is 100% accurate. any other size knocks speedo off and i am too lazy to try and remember that going down the road.
lug pattern is 5x100 so make sure and get that checked.

I googled on how to measure the space between the lug nuts so my friend is going to measure them to make sure they fit. Hopefully by later tonight I will know then I will look into getting them.
