Well heck good and bad news. Two of my local chrysler dealers said no to covering lower control arm bushings but the good news is i dont need them. But i do have a left tie rod going out..bummer.not covered either, but not a hard job to do but they should last longer than this, as i have never owned a car that ever needed them replaced.

o4 gt 46,000 miles, mods, auto stick and all sorts of stuff done to it.Still love it depite its flaws.

As the person above you posted - It was under the warranty. If you can, take it to a family mechanic and have he/she install aftermarket parts because the OEM part is crap.
Wondering about this control arm bushing thing, myself. Just took my 03 Touring in for an overheating problem, which may or may not be resolved after today, have to wait & see. But they told me my bushings are wearing out. I knew some bushing was wearing because I feel the front end on bumpy roads. However, he showed me the bushings and I can see where they are worn, but they quoted me a price of over 400 bucks to replace. The most expensive ones I find for my car are only about 50 bucks each? Do I have other options, such as having a friend replace them, doesn't look to be anything that hard to get to and do. No warranty left on car, btw. Oh and this is a dealer's quote.

Thx for the reply, I thought so, I know I have to have it realigned after, but that's a lot cheaper than 400. I have had more problems with this car since I got it. I think they saw me coming as I'm a woman and retired on a fixed income. 3 days after I got it, wheel bearing went, snapped off 3 of 5 lugbolts. Then a week after I got it back, no start, dealer replaced ignition parts, a month later same thing, finally took to another dealer, who found it had had frontend damage from accident and wiring harness had been 'taped' together. Warranty had never been transferred to me, so they had to send back to original dealer, wanted new dealer to do it, but they couldn't, because warranty was still in old owner's name. Then wasn't feeling right since I got it frontend wise, and finally found out bent tierod end, bent rim, 900 to fix that, then caliper froze up another 500, mercy!!! Then the over heating part out of the blue. Old dealer is now dead and dealership under new ownership. Enough ranting, sorry...

Oh did I mention, I pulled a CarFax on it? After all the trouble started of course, and found it had been a fleet vehicle of the showroom floor, down NYC way and the odometer didn't match??? And the jerk that sold it to me, never got the registration done, so temp ran out, had to call mvd, to get on their butts, after they gave me runaround with oh well mv says it's in the mail, oh well, you never gave me a copy of your license, I have to do a duplicate, cause it musta got lost in mail, mv never had a transfer to begin with. Well 3 days after mv got on them I had a registration! Hmmmm, let's see, have I forgotton anything, oh yeah, they told me I had to pay for towing, I said I don't think soooo and I didn't either, I may be a woman, but I'm not stupid!

Ya know I would if I could, I went from a 88 Chrysler Town & Country that I could still work on or have someone work on, to 'Yahoo' a 2003 that I thought would last me the rest of my driving days. I finally got up into the 2000's, all my kids were so happy, but then they've been footing the repair bills for me, at least the ones after the warranty ran out. It's really sad, I do have a ditch by the way a nice deep one, lol. The old 88 needed too much repair to get inspected and I thought a newer one would be less hassle and cheaper, boy was I ever wrong. Got a 'good' deal thru my employer who's Dad owned the dealership, ya right, then she laid me off 3 wks. after I bought it. Oh well, such is life I guess, thx for letting me vent and it's been good chatting with you, take care.

Red face Re: Lower Control Arm Bushings at 25K miles????

OK....Now it's my time to complain!
soonercruiser just went over 30K, and when I was driving to Kingfisher, to my trusted dealer, I noticed a clunking sound when it went over heavy bumps. After the oil change, I mentioned it to the service manager...a good guy....he rode with me around the lot.....and said that it sounds like control arm bushings too!
He said that a technician would have to inspect it....as that is under warranty. I told him I'd wait until the next oil change.
1. Sould I wait another 3,000 miles - or is it better to do it before it causes other damage.
2. If I have them do it under warranty, I intend to have them do both sides....and I will provide an aftermarket, better quality part.
What brand do ya'll recommend?
