Default Center Caps for Plain Steel Wheels?

I've got plain steel wheels with hubcaps on my '08 Cruiser and want to dress them up a bit without having to buy new rims all together. So, I was thinking of losing the hubcaps, painting the rims a high gloss black or gray, installing chrome beauty rings, and putting on some kind of center cap. Does anyone know of a center cap that will fit these plain wheels? I've looked around online and really can't find anything.

Thanks.

I'm heading this route temporarily..I'm looking at beauty rings, also. Saw the cheap mod at PTCruiserWorld.

there isn't any. but you can weld on a thin 2.5" steel ring aroun d the hub of the wheel itself for a longer lip, and come up with something like i did. I used cheap (2 bucks a pop) aluminum dog kennel post caps, they slid over the new lip.
That with bullet lugs is the route I took, as there just isnt anything avail for that oddball wheel size. mind you, these wheels are from a VW on my PT, but are essentially the same thing size wise...

That's a fine idea right there. I like that. I've been looking for some spider caps for my car since I bought it a year and a half ago. Nothing that fits or is a reasonable price so it's been ugly axle nut/cotter pin and bearing center surrounded by nice chrome lugnuts.

Did you use anything to secure that cap to the center?

yeah. i crossdrilled and tapped the rings before i welded em on. that fit TIGHT... rubber mallet to get em on tight.
still, i threw in a tiny threaded allenhead thru the cap into the rings with blur locktite to be sure... they fit flush so you cant see em at all.

Is it due to the Tire Pressure Monitoring system, that rims are not available that will accept a smoothie hubcap, as the earlier model Cruisers do?

No. Nothing to do with it, not that I know of.
They will all take a full size hubcap. I dont think that was what he was looking for tho.
No OEM steel wheel will take a baby moon only because no one has made any for em as far as I know.

The wheel vintiques smoothie moons available are OK, but i never liked how the center cap looked.. they look (to me) fake, and they're spendy.
