I've got plain steel wheels with hubcaps on my '08 Cruiser and want to dress them up a bit without having to buy new rims all together. So, I was thinking of losing the hubcaps, painting the rims a high gloss black or gray, installing chrome beauty rings, and putting on some kind of center cap. Does anyone know of a center cap that will fit these plain wheels? I've looked around online and really can't find anything.
Thanks. Last edited by astroman71; 27 Sep 2008 at 03:43 pm. |

That's a fine idea right there. I like that. I've been looking for some spider caps for my car since I bought it a year and a half ago. Nothing that fits or is a reasonable price so it's been ugly axle nut/cotter pin and bearing center surrounded by nice chrome lugnuts.

Did you use anything to secure that cap to the center?

yeah. i crossdrilled and tapped the rings before i welded em on. that fit TIGHT... rubber mallet to get em on tight.
still, i threw in a tiny threaded allenhead thru the cap into the rings with blur locktite to be sure... they fit flush so you cant see em at all. |

They will all take a full size hubcap. I dont think that was what he was looking for tho. No OEM steel wheel will take a baby moon only because no one has made any for em as far as I know. The wheel vintiques smoothie moons available are OK, but i never liked how the center cap looked.. they look (to me) fake, and they're spendy. Last edited by Rowdy; 25 Jul 2009 at 06:25 am. |
