Default New to me '05 HO Turbo

I just purchased an '05 convertible GT. I really wasn't a fan until I saw this one on the lot. It only had 19k on it and looked great. About the only thing I think it needs is a different set of wheels. I am not familiar with PT's and was wondering what the consensus was on wheel size. The 17 inch wheels on it seem a little small when looking at it from the side.

Great forum by the way. Thanks for having me.

Brian_Miami Welcome to the Forum. I have only had stock wheels on all 3 PT's of mine. Many have went up 18 & 20 inches. They'll chime in.

Welcome, Brian.
There isn't a lot of rubber between rim and road on 17" rims. You MIGHT be okay in Florida, but up in the North, potholes eat bigger rims.

Search for mopar springs on here and elsewhere to see how it looks dropped a little bit.. By that I mean its very mild compared to others butfrom what I hear the ride is not bad at all. Its cheaper than rims.

BUT... if you must.. then how about selling me your wheels???

Cool Re: New to me '05 HO Turbo

Welcome Brian!
Actually the wheels you already have are one of the mostd popular type for the PT!
Although I really like the stock 2006 GT wheels...

I do like the stock rims. They just seem to look a little small. It might just be in the rear. I just see bigger rims filling in the wheel wells.

I think 19s are perfect. Still ride great IMHO.

Hi Brian, welcome to the forum...your PT has the largest factory rims ever offered on the PT Line Up...Your Rims are the Empire Rims which are 17x7...I also have an 05 GT Convertible produced in August 04 and it has the old style GT Rims which are 17x6...I agree I think larger rims would fill up the wells alot nicer but there is something about that factory look that just says nice.

Old post, but you do not put larger profile wheel/tire combo on to fill in the wheelwells, you lower the car.

First, make sure the stock tires are the proper diamter. What size are the TIRES on the rims?
