i have a 02 pt with 93000 miles without a problem until now, my front end started to make clunking noises when steering mostly to the right, so i jacked up the front and looked at the lower control arm bushings and notice the both rear bushings were torn, well today i replaced the control arms with new ball joints and outer tie rods, well still have the clunking noise still mostly while turning right, right now i'm thinking maybe inner tie rods, i'm listening whats else could it be?

i wouldn't think it would be wheel bearings, i'm not saying it's not but their's no whinning noise and it still clunks just sitting and turning the wheels back and forth. the hubs also turned smoothly when i had the car jacked up and their was no play.

Did you check the strut plates ?????

Almost positive it is a bad CV joint. The boot probably has a hole in it allowing dirt to enter. If so the CV joint would make a loud clicking noise when turning. Not sure the cost to replace but there are different ways of doing so. I prefer to replace rather than rebuild as some shops do.

nope, no hole in the cv boot and it's not making any cliking noise, just a clunk noise, and it doesn't matter if the wheels are on the ground or if i have the car jacked up, thats another reason i don't believe it's wheel bearings, nor cv joints,

pretty sure i found the problem, first posting i said i just installed new control arms with new ball joints, outer tie rod ends, and sway bar links, well it seems that the right ball joint was bad.

definitely found the problem yesterday, it was the strut bearing mounting plate hitting the inside a wheel well bolt. i guess when i replace the struts 6 months ago i didn't have the notch on the bearing mounting plate turned correctly when i reassembled the strut. good reason to always read the manual before attempting to replace parts.
