Default 17 inch wheels?

Could I put them on my 05 PT convertible touring cruiser? Without any modifications? Like just buy them and put them on.

Yup! Along with either 205/50 17 or 225/45 17 sized tires!

Before anyone says yes, it depends completely on the offset of your wheels. I've got 17x7's on mine, with 215/50's on it. They come darned close to the strut seat. Need to make sure those wheels have an offset to allow a wider tire. I'm running Drifters by MB, the house brand at Discount Tire, thev've got the 5x100 bolt pattern and a 0.40 offset.

Well on top of what Chromenut stated, the extra sidewall of the 225/55 17 all around will definitely throw off the accuracy of the speedometer and odometer.

My speedo is 2 mph slow. I set up one GPS and ran at a constant 60 mph, the GPS read 62. Borrowed another to compare, same readings, so I'm pretty comfortable with 2mph slow, I can factor that in without having to take my shoes off....

so if i put two new 225/55/17 on the rear they will be fine on the stock rims, now what would be a better riding tire size to put on the stock rims for the front ??

You have not lowered your PT, right? If not then you should be okay. I tried to fit 225/55 on mine, were too big, I could fit 225/45 but too stiff, even though I only got 5mm more height with a 50. I ended up 215/50, so I'd be willing to bet those would fit fine on your car. Are you going to a commercial tire dealer? The should warrant their installs, if they put them on and they don't fit they should fix it...

I think it'll work, might be a bit close with the 55 height, but you should be okay if you've not lowered your PT. Now here's the thing, I've got an '06 GT, and my wheels were not 17x7, they were 17x6, and you wouldn't want a 225 wide tire on a 6" wide wheel, it'll roll and you'll not get a stable contact patch. If you've got a 7" wide wheel, 225 is about the widest you should go before you start rounding the tire and affecting the contact patch.

car is totally stock 03 gt so the 215/50 would be good for the front
