My question is, is the 26.6 overall diameter too much?
I highly doubt they will fit on the front. Look at the spring perch on the strut. It's right above the tire. There's not much room for a taller tire there. Maybe .5" over the 25" tall stock GT tire, at the most.

stock GT tire is 205/50-17 with an o.d. of 25.07" A 235/40-18 tire =25.4" o.d.

Here's an even better tire calculator:

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

It's especially good for comparing more than 2 sizes.

Also here's a wheel offset calculator that might help:

Cyanjaguar,
Slow down now killer, I have spacers on mine, they don't stick out past the fender, they sit about 1/4" from the fender with 1/4" spacers equipped.

Things you gotta look out for when adding spacers, if they stick out too far, they will hit the outside fender when you hit a bump in the rode or possibily while turning.

Mine fit perfect and look more aggresive then stock wheels. I have 8" wides with 225 tires.
