Wink 205/50ZR-17 Sumitomo HTR Z III XL tires?

What a mouthfull!! We just replaced the factory installed Goodyear RS-As with the Sumitomos and so far they are great!! got them from tire rack for $70.00 each plus shipping....word of caution thoughON'T let TIRE KINGDOM install & balance them IF you have factory stock rims: THEY DO NOT have the correct weights to fit the rims....what a mess!! had to take the car to my Chrysler dealer to have them re-balanced!!
Very impressed with TIRE RACK though!!
How about some feedback on the Sumitomos????

If you look on the Tire Rack site, they have a pull down menu of certified tire dealers all over the states that they recommend to install their products. Although, Tire Kingdon was the one closest to me according to their site.

If that's the case for you, go back to the site and on that page that tells you which installers you should go to, there's a "review an installer" place that lets you give feedback on the places they recommend.

Thanks for the reply! I picked TK because of price and they were close by to my house too!
That said TK sucks, and employes people that other reputable tire shops won't just to try & keep their prices down.

Anyone else running the Sumitomos?? great tire so far now that they are properly balanced!

A summer tire ranked 20th out of 40 others. Not intended for cold winter weather.

Consumer Survey Results By Category

A decent tire for average driving.

I like that chart. The two tires tied for 7th place the the tires I have on the Vette (BF Goodrich Sport) and the PT (Kuhmo SPT).

I ran Sumitomos on my Sebring (I drive about the same amount as Teeter +/- 26,000mi/yr). I got them because they were cheap, and they most certainly were. Can't remember exactly which ones, but they were a standard summer type... All slippage, no grippage. They lasted me one (Canadian) summer (about 4 months). Booooo!. I usually don't waste much effort on summer rubber, but my experience with Sumitomos left much to be desired. I no longer buy "summer" tires. I just run out the remaining life on my winters during the summer. (By the time I get around to changing tires, it's time to change them back to winters anyway..ergo..)

Like mentioned elsewhere on the forum, the tire type is more important than the brand. What you got may be perfectly suitable for you, but may not be for the next person. Only you can tell this.

Just make sure you read enough from various sources until you're informed and (somewhat) comfortable with your selection. Unfortunately, you can't really know until they're on your vehicle and you're driving..

It might grow on me like that "dog so ugly it's cute". If it behaves and doesn't pee on the driveway, maybe I'll give it some mod-treats!!

Michelin HydroEdge installed today. Plan to ride on them for at least six years, but I put less about 10K a yr on PT. Several I talked to said they've gone 80K easily, with lots of life left on rubber.

I put the Kumho Exta SPTs on soonercruiser with aftermarket whells, as a package deal from TireRack. I think that the 225x45R70s were a little over $70 each too.
Here's what you'll get. A great tire for performance and looks on dry roads. A little noisey, and only OK on wet roads. They do nothing on ice & snow; and so I put the OEMs back on in December.
At around 40K they are about "done"!
I will try to pay a little more this next time, and get a quieter tire....maybe the Faulken Zien 912s.
