Red face Now they're coming thru the door.

This thread is extremely educational for me. My 2001, new to us early this year, came with the dimpled polished aluminum wheels. They are showing no propensity to lose air, with the Michelin Pilot tires. (Hence my question, several posts above, about the Korean brands that ooze air in my experience.) The 2001 was purchased in SoCal, and then moved to Arizona in about 2004. Neither location was prone to corrosion.

I really like the dimpled wheels. I mean really like `em.

On the basis of the experience with the 2001, I began the process of acquiring them for my 2004 as this thread was developing. It's too late to back out of the deals, and I keeps my woid, yessir I do. I'll give the wheels a close inspection and report back, if there's anything to report.

Man i know this is so OLD school but is hey im gonna ask I know they make tubes for radial tires so my question is in place of replacing the wheels is it not possible to just tube the tire??????
I have a older Chevy 1 ton dully and it has radials on it and i have tubes in all 6 wheels I cant really see what problem it would cause--- just a question and a way cheaper answer that a full set of wheels

Duuuh. Old school, but it should work just fine. The key is to use tubes for radial tires. Regular tubes will cause more problems than just oozing air. The result is a Bad Thing.

This is the sort of thing you find by going in to a full service tire store. Look for an employee old enough to remember carburetors and ask.

A Google search didn't return anything useful. This isn't a do it yourself project anyhow.

odd things happen my S-10 has alloy rims I had tubes put in all 4 tires and that was 2 years ago important thing is to use radial tubes way cheaper than a new set of wheels

I too am having this problem. Tire went flat, not realizing, backed out of my parking spot, then discovered it. Had it towed and was told I had indeed caused some damage to the tire as well. I've had the air lead problems since I bought it new, 2001. I did have the wheel sanded and it lasted awhile, but came back pretty quickly it seemed. I also just failed my car inspection due to bad front right tie rod. I live paycheck to paycheck and no means of borrowing money or charging it to get it fixed. So, does it make sense for me to go to purchase a new tire and wheel myself and have the service station fix it or just let me order them? Also what is a resonable cost to have the tie rod fixed, plus i hear it will need to be balanced and alighned, is the alighnment imperative at this point? Being a woman on my own and broke, I want to try and not be overcharged or told I need more than I really due.
Sorry guys, you know us women, nothing is short and sweet, lol.

Brenda

Buy the tire at Sears, lifetime balance. If you buy all 4 there, lifetime rotation also. NOT trying to suggest you buy all four. Do you have road hazard on the ones you have now?
