Question Tire cables for snow?

I have a 2005 PT Cruiser, tire size 195/65R15. My owner's manual says tire chains are not recommended due to limited clearance. Right below that it reads: "CAUTION! Damage to the vehicle may result if tire chains are used". Has anyone used tire cables in place of chains? Other options?

Welcome.
Yes, I've read of several folks who've used cables.

well being in mid Missouri we do still have a little bit of winter and YES i have for sure used the tire cables they are really just a way smother chain they don't have the grip or the bite of a real tire chain but they do for some unknown reason really help and they are pretty small and will fir inside the wheel well i think the biggest issue with the chains is if they even let go when you are doing like 30-40
We do use the BIG tire chains on our tractor and them suckers have some bite bad thing is IF you get a tractor stuck wiht chains on its probably staying there till spring
