I had made a phone call to a nice gentleman @ tirerack late last week. I noticed the BBS CH was one of the wheels that they had come up on a search for wheels on the PT. BUT, they only had the 17x8.5 and the 19x8.5 sizes listed. So, simple logic would tell you an 18x8.5 will fit. Well, they pulled in a car over the weekend, and it does work, and they recommend a 235/40-18 with that width. It's now updated on their site. [8D]

Falken ST-115 235/40/18 and 7.5 @ +30. These tires are quiet and are predictable in the rain. It also features an elevated rubber ring where the tire and wheel meet to help prevent curb rash. This can be seen between the wheel and ground.

Offset moves out rims nicely. There seems to be enough room to go 8.5 on the rim since that's a half inch inside and out. If I had to do it again, I'd consider 245s, but no big deal. The key to the rims is to scoot them outward for a broader stance.

No problems with Eibach drop. Wheels turn lock-to-lock without rubbing. Hope this helps. [8)]

Thanks. Is that the fender or the quarter panel, and which wheels are out the farthest- front or rear?
Thx

That is a rear shot. I'd say the front is fractionally wider (closer to the fender lip), but still room for comfort.

So what are your thoughts?

I'm thinking the 8.5" width with a 30mm offset will stick out too far. I'd be better off with a 18x8" 35mm offset. Having not seen photos of this, it's all a guess! There are 4-6 sets of wheels in the vwvortex.com wheel/tire classifieds for sale i'm looking at, but some are the 8.5" width. UGH!
I'm thinking about these...

They come in an 18x8 35mm offset to fit the Golf/Beetle/TT, which are all 5x100.

Don't forget about hub diameter. According to this nice reference Modern Image Wheels it looks like a good fit.

If you do indeed go with that smooth Audi rim, let us know [|)]. Before I decided on Konig Imagines, I was tempted to find a way to get BMW M3s to fit. They, however, are 5x120 with a bigger hub requiring custom adapters or drilling PTs hubs. Those VW/Audi rims are true bolt-ons!

BTW, I looked that site over and I [u]finally</u> found skinny wheel spacers! THANK YOU.
