KYB are good shocks. What do you mean by "he has extra"? Were they for a PT Cruiser? You can't just put any shocks on your car. Does he have the KYB struts also?

The GR2 / Excel G are other names of KYB. Read here:

If you believe you need new shocks and struts, they are a good brand to have. Normally shocks and struts last quite awhile 50, 60 70,000 miles plus.

My 2004 PTC just hit 60300 miles they have all the original shocks I would feel much better having new ones on.

Am also thinking of changing the control
arms the ball joints are also not looking to good cracked and i think its far easy and less tools need to change the ball joints so am told .

Don't know. I have 102,000 miles and everything in the suspension is original except the lowering springs and the Tokico Struts and shocks which were made for lowed vehicles.
