Just an FYI for you all
I've never used the emerg jack. I always raise the car on a floor jack/jackstands or bottle, or ramps or a hoist or something like that. Yesterday on the way to work (btw day 3 after changing timing belt) - heard a real quick tap tap tap tap, then a ping, then the dreaded rumble of a flat. I picked up a screw, it flew out and hitthe fender, then the tire dropped. Pulled off to the side and only had the stock emerg jack. Its literally brand new in the pouch. It's still greased up and everything. I broke em free and got about 3 inches up and slam! Car dropped. Damn jack broke! Like it didn't have a retainer on one side of the pivot, bent it to crap. Had to call a buddy and he laughed and laughed and laughed at the quality Chrysler engineering. Not sure what went wrong but I'll post some pics. Lucky I wasn't under there. Bottom line - check your emergency jacks before you need them on the side of the freeway. |
