Default Rear Brake Shoe Thickness?

I was checking my rear brake shoes tonight. When I spin the drum, it sounds like it is lightly rubbing the pads. No squeal, just sounds like it's rubing. The pad thickness measured around 1/8" or 4 mm with a ruler. They look pretty thin, but I'm not sure what they look like new. Do I need new shoes?

!/8 inch is pretty thin. Your probably at about half the full thickness and since they are probably glued on, there's no rivets to worry about scorching the inside of the drums so you can go a bit further before replacement. If in doubt, have them checked out for free at at brake repair facility. Just don't get fooled into buying anything you don't need.

I suppose I can go to the parts store and look at the new ones. The shoes also have beveled edges, not sure if that's how they're supposed to look.

Not sure either since it's been a couple years since I replaced mine.

I picked up a new set, but after cleaning off the old ones, they don't look much different then the ones on there. Just a tiny bit thicker, so I'm probably taking back the new set.
