Default Wheel question

Would it be possible to put my tire pressure sensors into the 2003 GT 17" wheels?

Can you swap TPMS to aftermarket wheels?

I know I can put them in aftermarket wheels but I want to use the stock GT wheels.I was just wondering if anybody knew if they could be used in the earlier wheels.

You are asking a technical question that most people would have no idea of the answer. Not many people want to do away with the TPMS system and wouldn't have the fainted idea how to disable it. Have you looked for any fuse in either box that would give power to that system? It might me as easy as pulling a fuse out.

A member of this forum works for a dealership. I don't recall his username at the moment so hopefully he sees this thread.

I do know that on the wife's KIA she bent a wheel and I had to get a new steel wheel and they just moved the TPMS to the new wheel they did have to re activate it so I cat see why you couldn't do it on a cruiser

Theres no reason you couldn't do it. Youll need to take the tire off, drill holes in the rim and countersink it so that it will fit flush, but still have contact. Its definitely a big project and in my opinion, not worth it when you can just push your tire with your foot to check it.
The two valves you will need

inside shot of the hole

after install

Sensors might cost you upwards of 150$

I tried to do this on a Suburban, and ran into issues. After changing wheels, and then ordering different sensors, I have up and lived with the light. When winter came, I switched back, did the "relearn" procedure, and was back in business.

I can't speak to the PT specifically, so it may work just fine...
