Default Rear shoe replacement.

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum, I hope to get some help from you.
I am changing the rear shoes on my pt cruiser 2007. I am not able to push back the emergency brake wire ( the one with the spring around it) back into the hook on the new shoes. It keeps popping out. Please help. As soon as I pull the emergency brake, the wire comes back out.

Please help.
Thank you.

Thumbs up Re: Rear shoe replacement.

STOP! You need to "lock out" the 19lb spring in the console where the parking brake handle is. You can cause yourself serious injury if you don't do that and the spring lets go.
You can see the spring when you remove the center console cover, insert a "tool" like a drill bit or pin punch in the hole to hold that spring from "jumping" out of place. When you have done that, you can pull the slack of the cables and unhook them.
The spring is there to keep a constant pressure on the parking cables..this makes it self adjusting.
