Default ABS Brakes

Just in case I have to get a new PT what are the ABS like on PTs? I'd especially like to hear from owners in the northern parts of the county that get snow for a good part of the year. My PT didn't have ABS and I see quite a few in the AutoTrader that do have them. I had a Chevy Cavalier and an S10 Truck and the ABS on these were just horrible. You had no idea if you were going to stop or not especially if you hit a bump or someone had spit on the road. Winter driving was a nightmare! I eventually disabled them and the brakes were fantastic after that.

Cool Re: ABS Brakes

I will let you know in about a week.
Having been born & raised in PA & WV, I grew up with regular brakes on snow.
I have never had a braking proble in snow without ABS.
Wifie's Grand Marquis with ABS works great on snow.

Default Re: ABS Brakes

I've never had any problems with regular brakes either. Years ago I went on one of those fancy driving courses put on by Ford. They had the brake and avoid test where you hammer on the brakes and then you have to go left or right around some pylons and back onto the road all on this slippery stuff to simulate snow and ice. We did it twice in a ABS equipped car and twice in a non-ABS car. I did better in the non-ABS! The instructors couldn't believe it

Some ABS systems seem better than others. My friend's SportTrac seems to work pretty good in the snow. I think the ABS is best suited for dry roads anyway.

Default Re: ABS Brakes

Think all of the 2010 PTs come with ABS and 4 wheel disk Brakes. Mine work good I even had to do a panic stop on wet pavment and they worked real good. I do think that the brakes make more noise than the 04 GT I had, but there is a lot less brake dust. The only thing I don't like about my 2010 Couture Edition is the wheels. They are polised alum and are really had to get real clean. I had some of the Mothers wheel cleaner and it worked great but can't find it now. Boy I sure would like to have the nice chrome wheels that the 04GT had.
