Clicking in front end turning left or right
Hi guys, long time no see. Right before warranty ran out, had a bunch of work done on my '06 Limited/non-turbo including free rack & pinion replacement. WooHoo! Steered like a Caddy, dead quiet. They said I needed front struts but not covered by warranty. Fine, got my mechanic to do front (& back) shocks/struts, strut mounts, etc. Now when I turn left or right, I get a clicking sound in the front end. Even does it with the engine off. Have isolated the noise to top of both strut mounts, another mechanic pal (works at fleet mgmt. at work, been bustin' knuckles for 30+ years) tells me it sounds like it's happening where the coil/spring seats into the mount - like the springs at the top of the struts keep turning around and are not seated properly. The first mechanic (that did the non-warranty work), took it apart again & tightened everything up.. it's still making noise & now he's back pedalling - I need to go to the junkyard, take one apart, you bought faulty parts, blah blah blah. Any tips, other than get a better mechanic? Thanks!!
