Default LCA question

2008 touring with about 75K miles... picked it up about two weeks ago and it has the dreaded cruiser clunk... shop replaced the passenger LCA and front end links, but said the driver's side was good.. Unfortunately, the noise is still there...This is my first Cruiser, so I don't know how things are supposed to look..

looking at the new LCA (passenger side), the bushing is solid, and there's a good half inch or more clearance between the LCA and the frame... on the driver's side, the LCA is flush to the frame and the bushing is sticking out the top... Is that right or should the shop have replaced both sides ?

passenger

driver

thanks for the help !

Seems to me, if one side wears out, the other side can't be in too good of shape so you might as well replace both sides. Same with breaks, rotors and wheel bearings.

First photo is of a newly installed bushing (the 'blacking' is still on it,
you can see scoring where they pressed it in) and the second is of
a failed original equipment bushing.

Any chance someone could post a pic of a good driver's side bushing ? That would be a lot of help.

Thanks again

so it's safe to say the driver's side should look more or less like the passenger side ? not an asymetric design ?

Both sides should look the same...the driver's side is bad.

This a common issue with the bushings going bad? Mine is only at 39K, but I noticed a sort of popping/banging noise at low speeds over rough roads from the right side. The car did deal with nasty Brooklyn roads all its life though.

Yes, this is common, all the way back to when the "Px" body was first made in 1993.
The bushings then were far too compliant even when new, they caused wobble and wheel hop when drag raced.
They quickly failed, too.

It seems Chrysler favored smooth, quiet ride over longevity and performance.
