my control arm bushings are bad I am going to try and replace them myself, Does anyone know what size socket I need to do this job? I have a tourning cruiser with the 2.4 in it. Also am I going to need to get the wheels aligned when im done? Any help or hints would be helpful! Thank you all.

For info on the control arm bushings, look through this section your in for older posts that might help you out.

As far an the alignment, your probably need the alignment "kit" that costs about $30 at the dealer and consists of two bolts that take the place of the bolts that go through the bottom hole in each of the front struts. You can also pick them up a little cheaper on eBay. The bolts are odd shaped and by turning them the camber is adjusted. Kinda stupid for Chrysler not to use those bolts in the first place so we wouldn't have to go out and buy the "kit".

I found this in the HOW TO thread of the Tech section of this forum.

you don't really need the camber kit to adjust the camber on the PT. A good alignment tech can just open the bolt holes slightly to allow for the movement needed. This was done on mine to allow them to get a bit of negative camber. The bolts in the kit are smaller in diameter and possible slightly weaker than the factory bolts...

Yes an alignment is necessary after replacing the control arms or bushings.

Like mentioned above there are a bunch of threads about this and the info should be in there... the large vertical bolt is something like 26mm, I can't remember the exact size.

check out Rockauto. You could probably get entire control arms with ball joints for the cost of ball joints. I did this on my Neon when the bushings needed replaced a while back

I never get alignments-

My theory is that if you're replacing a 'concentric' part with another 'concentric' part there's no change in wheel position.
Plus, by the time it gets aligned, I'll have torn it apart for another reason.

The tape measure method works well for toe, and I just eyeball camber.
(Koni struts, and most aftermarket come slotted)

About a decade ago, after taping for toe, and 'eyeballing' camber, brought it to my buddy at tires plus; he was sorry he had to charge for an alignment, it was perfect.

No the parts are defiantly cheaper if you have the know how an access to a press.
Actually you can do it without a press but that requires a little more know how!
