Angry noisy front suspension

I have had a clunking noise when I go over a bump, so I replaced my struts because my 02 cruiser has 145,000 miles, so I thought it was time, but didn't stop my clunking noise in both left and right side What can be the cause besides the struts.

There's lots of stuff in a front end that wears over time-
PT it's the Lower Control Arm rear bushings (LCA's)
Sway bar end links
Ball joints if they haven't been regularly greased
Inner (and more so) outer tie rod ends
Hub caps
Loose brake pads

That about covers it!
Except for the loose nut behind the wheel. Just kidding. I just couldn't stop myself.

What would be the procedure for checking these parts?>

What would be the procedure for checking the front suspension you suggested be the problem?

Jack it up and look-
There's lots of posts, especially on the LCA rear bushings

Uptown,

Just went through this exact same problem. Had the "front end falling off" sound from the front end. So i replaced my struts, they were in need anyways, but didn't fix the problems. So i did a little research and found that the lower ball joints would cause the hanus noise. Bought OEM lower control arms with the ball joints already installed. Installed those and the noise was no longer there. Not sure if that is whats wrong with yours but i was stumped for a while on that very same issue and this solution fixed mine. G/L.

Everything is visual,

You should be able to pull on bottom of wheel to check for ball joint looseness. OE Chrysler joints seem to be very good (neon still has originals)
but need to have a shot of grease to purge water now and then.

Chrysler shows a procedure (with vehicle static); crawl under, and 'wiggle'
grease fitting with fingers- there's a value for how much it should move.

It may pay to install the 'urethane' bushings in control arms' rear-
Have them on Neon for last decade- They're not perfect, but will outlast OE bushings.
These guys know more about them, but 'prothane' was name we used on Neon.

I don't believe control arm's front bushing needs attention, just rear.

Obviously, inner and out tie rods are just a looseness check

I had the same issue but when I looked under the car I could clearly see that the issue is my lower control arm bushings. Things are probably throwing off my alignment and killing my gas mileage a bit.
