Exclamation Re: Lowering pt cruiser

Ahhh yes, lowering

Depends on how much you want to spend.

You can airbag it, $$$

You can do coilovers $$

or you can just get some lowering springs($) , Eibach, H&R, Sprint, etc.

There are some superslammers around here, but I think I read they are discontinued.

I have eibachs on my black GT, my wifes has H&R.

Check out my profile, then go to Albums to see them better

You might want to consider changing out your shocks/Struts with it, but its not completely necessary unless your stock ones are worn out to begin with.

Year, model, miles???

How much do you want to spend?

Mine, lowered on H&R Sport Springs with Tokico Blue's struts & shocks:

this is before, notice the huge gap over the tires -

after lowering it -

Went with MB Driterz for wheels, 17x7, then 225/45x17 Pirelli P6's for tires, best tires I've ever had on any car. She rides like she's on rails, and handles so so much better.

Now, if you have a 4-door, and not a vert, then you need both front and rear anti-sway bars, and you'll have to get a dogleg kit for the rears. If you're driving a vert, you don't need a front sway, but you will need a strut tower brace. Actually, I'd suggest a strut tower brace regardless.

Here's the "cheaper" version, but works great -

Now here is my latest photo, after ripping the nose off the car, then putting in the S3 Intercooler, custom lower grill, polishing out the headlights and foglights, etc. -

Hey their Chrisd069,

Welcome to the Forum.

For me, I had to try to go to the extreme and chose option 4 which actually wound up taking $$$$$ as mine was pretty much gutted out completely and started over from scratch with a full one off air ride set up. She does lay out fairly decently though which is a pretty good trick to pull off on a PT, and still has about 6" of lift so its plenty drivable.

And here is one of my old custom 3"/5" drop spring kits I had built after my own design.

A lot depends on how low you want to go. Like the guys were saying, Springs are the best bang for your buck and probably your best option. Coilovers are nice but more expensive, and air is the most expensive, though the most adjustable, and then you can go from their all the way up to complete custom air ride like mine which is getting pretty complicated and expensive, but definitely doable provided the budget for sure.
