Unhappy Front wheel bearing, and I havent seen this question asked before here.

Ok, Today I was having a friend replace my front wheel bearings. I had gone to Autozone and they gave me a solid bearing, that their system said should fit. My friend got my old bearings off to our surprise, they are a tapered two piece bearing. We can not find this bearing anywhere. I am at a loss and of course being sunday, no one is open to even ask a dealer. So here I am. Where can I find this bearing? I have a 2002, 5 speed Pt. I didn't think I'd run into this issue. Sigh....
Everywhere we called that was open.. ie Pepboys, Checkers, Autozone, OReillys all had the same solid bearing, of which is way too big and isnt tapered to fit. Please help! Ty!

Look up the P/N from RockAuto. I got mine from Advanced Auto. It was a National Bearing that eliminated play that I had from two Timken's.

Ok. One of the guys that were there said he gets parts he can never find from Rock auto. I will let him know! Thank you so much! The bearings that are in are Timkens as well. Do you know if this is the only year that has the tapered bearings? Threw me for a loop trying to figure out why my car is different than others I've asked about today.

Also, would the P/n be on the part itself? its Jrm2405 and on the other its jrm2400. I've looked up both and both i get no hits back on.

Autozone.com shows the bearing you are looking for. Here is the link.

Timken/Wheel Bearing - Front (SET49) | 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser 4 Cylinders B 2.4L SFI DOHC | AutoZone.com

That link will show my store. You can change it to see if any of your stores has it in stock

I thought that was the same one too. We opened the box and its a solid bearing. They have that picture up, but it isnt the same one. We went back to the store and they were dumbfounded too. They couldnt figure out why it was pulling up the wrong bearing. We also went to pepboys and it was the same issue. They have the wrong bearing for my model car. Its crazy i know.. Thank you though! Much appreciated!

Why don't you take a picture of yours, so we can see why yours is different.

Xtrm, and Autozone or whomever are correct.

You must be talking of some thing else. These bearings do come apart when removed
Picture?
