Default Dust Caps On 2003 Bearings?

Hi

I am only 2 weeks into my owning my first PT Cruiser and I have a little question.

My car was vibrating (bobbing) and figured it was an unbalanced tire. I took them off to chceck them and noted a bend in the front inside lip of the rim. Damnit. So I replaced them with my crappy winter rims and problem solved.

So then I noted that unlike my ford focus, there are no caps on the ends of the axles, covering the bearings... Just the exposed cotter pin...

Is this normal or is there supposed to be caps on the ends?

Thanks.

Front? must be if you're talking cotter pin.

You can't see bearings, just axle tip and nut.

Bearing is inside spindle and sealed.
