Default Weird rotating wheel covers

I have a set of wheel covers on my 2002 that stay on the wheels just fine but they rotate in the rim. They rotate in the same direction as the wheel is spinning. I'm afraid that the valve stem will shear off. To give you an idea as to how fast they rotate, in 100 to 150 miles traveled the valve stem will no longer be in the hole of the wheel cover, it disappears behind the cover.
Has anyone ever heard of this or can explain to me what the heck is going on? Spooky.

Russell

Hey Russell, they sound like interior spinners. Any way of posting a picture or two of them?

I'm not a wealthy man and have more pressing things that need my attention. Sure they aren't a set of 2000 dollar wheels but covers are all I can do right now Pluminator.

Chromenut, they are the full moon type. The car design I feel was to mimic the customization and hot rod appeal of earlier cars from the 30's and 40's and the moons and/or the salt flat racer covers help bring that design out I feel.

Thanks,
Russell

This is a common problem with aftermarket wheelcovers when used on our PTs. Our rims doesn't have the "old style" depth and size on the outter edge of the rims where the old style caps were attached, because that style wasn't needed on our oem plastic hubcaps that are held on by the lugnuts. It's easy to remedy but I'll need to post pics to really make it easily understandable, plus its really cheap. I'm due to check my tire pressures tomorrow so I'll take pics then to post here. What I'm talking about goes beyond the normal "bending of the tangs" to get them to grip. I've had my salt-flat full Moons on with this method for years now with no movement what-so-ever.

Pics of attachment method tomorrow.

Please click on pics below.

I did a search before I posted but this didn't come up. Thanks for passing it on Busa_Powered.

No pics at this time. I keep hearing the phrase "inner spinners". What is that?
