Default Chrome Flaking on Rims - Slow tire air leak

2003 Dream Cruiser 2
136,000 miles
HELP!
I think that I just received the worst news from the guys at the tire shop today. I bought new tires last year and 2 tires were having a very slow leak. I took it to the shop today and nothing was wrong with the tire. They said that it was the chrome flaking off of my rims and they mentioned "beads".. don't know what that is. Anyway, they cleaned the rims, wired brushed the flake and mounted the tires back on. (2 rims are fine). They recommended that I replace my rims.. BUT I DON'T WANT to replace my SWEET RIMS with the Orange PT Cruiser center!
How much does it cost to get a rim rechromed?
Can you buy replacement rims?
any suggestions???
thanks,
gatorgal1!

That's normal on PTs, specially on the northern states....btw, I have my OEM wheels sitting in my garage with the same problem on three of them

Chrome flaking off the rims is a common problem for a couple years of the pt. I think it was 2002 and 2003. Sometimes searching eBay you might get lucky and see 1 or 2 exact rim replacements. The dealer wants too much for them. Not sure how much to re-chrome a wheel is.

You can still get the GT wheels and put your center caps on them. They don't have to be Dreamcruiser Wheels.
