Default revolving sound?

I'm hearing a rubbing sound under the front right side, that increases in frequency, as I accelerate. I first heard it a week ago, but was hardly noticeable, but it's gotten a bit louder. It's a repetitive sound. Any tips on what it could be would be helpfull. I really like doing the work and doing a thorough job, thanks so much, Conrad.

The brake pads have a small metal tab that makes contact with the rotors when the pad thickness gets worn thin enough to need replacement. It's designed to sound off as an early warning. That's what I would check first.

There's a lot going on with the front axle so there may be some other things such as wheel bearings that you can check also.

If you can use your tire jack raise the front wheel and carefully rotate the wheel to see if you can get a better idea where the sound is coming form? Make sure that you place the emergency brake on and it is never a bad idea to block the rear wheel while doing this check.

^ this.

Also remove the wheel and look at the rotor for scoring marks, if there is LOTS of swirling in a deep-like fashion, Replace your brake pads :-)

Also drive it around a bit then place your hand close to each wheel but DONT touch it, Feel for heat, if one is super hot it could be a stuck caliper that needs to be replaced :-D

If those turn up to nothing, take the wheel off and the brake pads, then rotate the rotor by hand, if you hear grinding its your wheel bearings :-D

MY first thought is wheel bearings, but I often assume the worst! Definitely check the easier things like the brakes first.

Thank you everyone for your quick responses. The rotating sound has incrementally grown worse. In a straight away, and with no traffic, I turned the wheel to the left and the right. The sound stops in one direction, so then I jacked it up, and low and behold, the wheel has play. I was hoping it was'nt the bearings, because of how much it was going to cost. I went to a mechanic and he's going to do it for $200. Anyway, thanks again.

I got one bearing done about a year ago and that's about what I paid. Good luck!

I am not charging enough! I charged for a 2004 PT 2 months ago 350 parts and labor for one wheel hub and bearing, 2 new rotors and pads. It took me about about an hour and half for the whole thing?
Parts bearing and hub 100
Sloted rotors and pads 100
Labor 150
Total 350

And hand washed his car when as a bonus!
