Default Smoothies

I was told that smoothies won't fit on a Gt Turbo due to clearance with the brakes. (BUMMER!) Next choice are the Coddington wheels. Man are they nice or what.? Big difference in price between the 17" and 16". They supposedly just started making rims for the Turbo in size 18" (big $$$$ like $400 each)

Hello Gary and all. Sorry about the recent no shows at the meetings and the forums...busy as Hell. [}]

Anyway, definitely consider the Boyd Wheels. Every time I see that gorgeous red and black two-toned PT on the BC website or elsewhere, it brings tears to my eyes (I haven't cried so hard since WHAM! broke up)[V]. I'll be putting them back on as soon as the weather is convincing, so you can check 'em out in person. Gotta tell you about the fiasco I went through to get the "right set."[xx(]

I got a 2002, not a turbo. I got the wheels from Moss when they had a special on them, about $1000 for the whole set, 17x7 front, 18x8 rear. There are more and more companies that sell them, like Moss and Woody, and their prices are competitve, often less than what is listed on the BC website. Who knows, you might find a good deal on the Turbo Smoothies in the months to come.

turboman, I just ordered a set of boyd's smoothie II's in 18x8 direct from boyd coodington a couple of weeks ago. they should arrive on the first week of april. paid 1400/set. the off set I think is 42mm, 5x100...also they are about 28lbs. not exactly light weight, but they sure do look good. and yes these will fit my gt. I have not bought the tires yet, still trying to decide. [8D] [^]

You can get a set of wheels and tires for less than $1,000 if you don't want chrome. The problem with the Boyd Coddington wheels is they are polished wheels not chrome.I have a friend that ran his Boyd Coddington Smoothies during the winter ( big mistake ) and he had to take them off the car one at a time to polish them. I saw the before and after and they looked great after he was done with them. This winter he bought a set of stock wheels and ran them for the winter. If you live where it snows you need 2 sets of wheels and tires. I don't care how careful you are after a couple of winters Most wheels will look like crap. Don't buy wheels from PT vendors there prices are WAY out of line. This place is about the cheapest I have found

Does anyone have a good picture of their car with the Boyd Coddington Smoothie II wheels? I am really concidering getting these rims, but the pictures I have seen on a couple websites dont really give me the full effect. I was thinking of 18x8 all around (2001 Limited) But will they fit? 18x7 would be fine too, and a little cheaper, so that always helps as well. I was just wondering if I would need spacers? do they stick out at all? or do they sit inside the fenders nicely?

Thanks!

Matt
