Default Opinion! Chrome vs. Painted Wheels

I have factory chrome GT wheels...I'm thinking about going with some aftermarkets that come in chrome or painted...Which do you prefer? Al

I like chrome myself. Whichever you choose, there's a good market out there for people looking for the GT wheels you have.

I think the GT wheels are really nice looking, one of the best matches. So it would be wise to go for something completly different and keep the GT wheels untill you 've got your senses back

Heya Everyone,

I am kinda 50/50 both ways. I agree I am still a fan of the look of the old factory GT wheels. So much so I am still rocking them 10 years later.

On the other hand, I am still kicking around the idea at least on my ride maybe getting some Plasti-Dip and maybe trying shooting just the face of my wheels in satin black leaving the chrome lip, and then shooting the door spears, door handles, and emblems to match. I think it may flow clean with my overall look and flames, but not 100% sure yet. Cool thing with the Plasti-Dip is if I don't like it, I can just peel it off so I may have to just try it and see what it looks like.

Anywayz, I can go either way. Both look cool in their own unique way. My two cents anyway.
Dino and Vlefaive like this.

I am about being different I guess.

Too many rims look alike to me.

Nothing changes the look of the pt more than getting some flashy rims with fat tires and lowering springs.

My rims are chrome with black fins that attach with allen wreches.

Never seen anyone with them on any vehicle.

Probably why some ignorant person broke a fin trying to steal my rims.

In the hierarchy of wheels, chrome is above paint. Fads come and go, popularity waxes and wanes, but this law of the universe never changes. It's not a democracy, you could get all thumbs up in a poll for paint but that don't make it true.

My 2 cents is that chrome looks especially tasty on a car that is absent a lot of chrome on the body work. Then it's the easy choice. But a car that's already slathered with a bunch of chrome, you can probably go anti-chrome in a lot of cases.

The painted ones are FAR easier to take care of - the factory chrome wheels pit and peel....
