since you did all that, i assume you manually adjusted the adjusters..

curiously, what exactly to you expect them to do? skid like a kid on a bike?

Now when you say 'rear brakes' are you talking about the brakes when you STOP the car with the brake pedal,or the brakes when you pull the parking brake lever......If you mean the brakes when your trying to stop...They pretty much always SUCK;Unless you install a brake proportioning valve ,most of the braking power is going to the front discs(75-90%?).....And if your talking about the rear brakes for parking, they are self adjusting ;They will always self adjust if you drive in reverse & pull up quickly & firmly on the E-brake/parking brake handle ;I do that occassionally just for that purpose(because of normal wear on the pads)But,especially after doing my rear brakes....

The best thing you can do is convert to rear disc brakes.
Not a hard conversion using simple garage tools and parts both new and used are readily available.

This is probably not the best solution for a PT Cruiser or any vehicle with any form of anti-lock braking system. Way to much to reply technically to this just IMO DON'T DO IT!

......I thought PT Cruisers came with 4 wheel disc brakes????;I haven't checked mine yet???..(Been working on the interior)....But,eHow.com states: 'The PT Cruiser came equipped with four-wheel disc brakes making brake repair on this vehicle a quick and easy project that requires no special tools to complete.'

I do that also...But,that only gets the hydraulic brakes to seat;Manual parking brakes have a ratcheting adjuster inside the drums, and when you replace the shoes you need to adjust them as I stated before.....BTW;I'm mainly talking about my vehicles in the past...I'm still a noob and learning the world of PT Cruisers.

Hmmm you need to re-read what I said?
If your PT came with drum rear brakes, it is an easy few hour conversion to go disc's and no special tools are required. All the disc brake parts bolt right up to the common rear axle. The overall brake feel and performance difference will be only slight because the brake bias will not be to much different between shoes and pads. And the braking is primarily 70% front and 30% rear on both brake systems anyway.
A common mistake many do is to go with a larger rear rotor to increase brake area and only mess up the brake bias causing a weird feel and brake control with very little improvement for the effort.

BTW with the limited information about your PT I read on your first welcome thread I believe you will find drums and shoes on your rear?
Now that is just a guess!!

I would guess that the OP simply need to check on what is on there and perhaps a fluid flush and change along with some better brake lines and that will be enough improvement for the brake system for what it is?
