Default TPMS system fault? looking for some how to guidance or projected cost

Hello! First post, but ive been lurking for a month or so. I am fixing up my brother's 08 pt cruiser (I believe its the b series, NOT a turbo engine). He put a lot of wear on the cruiser due to travelling all across the state for training. I'd like to have it tuned up and runnint great when his deployment is up.

Back on topic, the tire sensor light will flash for about a minute, then stay on constantly. From the forum and other google searches, it seems this indicates a TPMS fault. The air pressure is at or above the requisite tire pressure. Ive disconnected the battery for at least 2 hours and the system has had a chance to reset.

I just moved near Concord, CA so I am worried about finding a trustworthy and wallet-friendly mechanic. Any ideas on the costs or tests involved in diagnosing this issue? Could I fix this system with enough diligence and the right tools?

Thanks for your time and assistance?

Just stop by a good tire shop and have them check it out....Could be a faulty sensor or bad battery..

I had a TPMS go bad in one of my front tires. My mechanic suggested that I replace it with the old fashion rubber valve stem. So the result is the idiot light flashing for about a minute every time I start the car. The TPMS runs approx 55-60 dollars. This is not required for inspection in mt state. (remember when we would have to look at the tires to see if they have enough air). Your brother my of had one go bad and replaced it with a rubber one. good luck
