Default HELP with these squeakin rear brakes!!!

They are the rear drums and they are driving me nuts...any suggestions on how to shut these things up would be appreciated. The sound does seem to reside when the drums warm up, but not always.
So far here is what I have done with no improvement to date...
Remove drum and clean with brake cleaner.
Disassemble and reassemble both sides adding anti-sieze to the back plate.
Scuff both the pads and drums with 60 grit sandpaper.
Adjusted them both loose and tight....still they squeak!!!!
Is there a shoe of choice to switch out, I will gladly spend the money if a particular shoe will silence these drums.

Exclamation Re: HELP with these squeakin rear brakes!!!

Question: "Do you use your parking brake regularly?".....

Talking Re: HELP with these squeakin rear brakes!!!

Parking brake is used often. If anything, they are a little more noisy after I have set it.

The parking brake self adjusts itself to wear; You can initiate a 'self adjust' by rolling the car in reverse and pulling the parking brake lever to stop.........Also 'scuffing' is not the best method of re-surfacing a drum/disc;Turning is the preferred method(doesn't cost much,if you do R/R).

Have not tried new shoes and seems to be the obvious course of action. What would be the best choice?

The rear brake shoes are not as important as getting the drum turned(by Autozone or local shop/parts store)or replaced(depending on whether they can be turned based on wear)....My guess would be that your brake drums have scoring in them and that makes them resonate/squeak.........After that any semi-metallic or low-metallic rear brake shoe should work just fine.....Rear brakes are mainly for parking & emergency stopping(hence the name 'Emergency Brake/Parking Brake')....When you apply the brake pedal in daily driving about 90-95% of the braking force is applied to the front disc brakes, and only 5-10% on the rear.

I have never had a scored drum or rotor for that matter to make noise. Only the shoes or pads. But Haven't run into that much in recent years either. You didn't notice any seepage around the seals of the wheel cylinders? Lift the boot on each end and see if it's wet. That can cause your problems.

Yea busted I checked them for any leaks when I dissasembled the drums. So what is a good set of shoes to select. Might have the drums turned for kicks and giggles, but I doubt the source of the noise is coming from the drum. I would not however rule out the back plate and shoe point of contact as the culprit. If that is the case, I doubt much could be done short of replacing the back plate

WOW...so i'm looking at these replacement shoes and they seem to come in two sizes for the rear drums.
9x1.65 or 8.66x1.57
So how do you tell which ones are correct for a 2004 base without abs??
