Default more steering wheel shake...

I recently fixed the pass side tie rod end and got rid of the wheel shake.
Yesterday I hit a block of wood on the highway!
Bent the front drivers side wheel (just a steelie), so I moved that wheel to the back.
Now my steering wheel is shaking again and I feel a "thunk" in the fron end.
The shake and rattle seems to be worse when turning right and smooths a little when going left.
Obviously it's worse at higher speeds.
Think I need a tie rod on that side now?
Any other ideas?

It wold be just a guess of what damage that block of wood did to the under carriage. You gotta get under there and take a look. That bent wheel, even though it's in the back could be transferring the shake and thunk to the front.

I jacked it up to check for loose tie rod end.
Seems tight top and bottom and very minimal movement side to side.
Maybe a bent tierod?
I think I gotta get it on a lift and look.

There should be no minimal. But you probably have another issue as well.

Question Re: more steering wheel shake...

Do you think the block of wood may have bounced up,and hit your axle,or CV joint?

I don't think the wood moved at all.
It was a solid 3"x3" block; felt like hitting a curb at 50
mph!
I think it may have messed up an already worn tierod.
Going to have my mechanic inspect it.
Wish me luck!

I'll second what Busted_PT said, having just overhauled my rotten front end suspension and steering--there should be *no* play. Makes a huge diff in the ride and handling. Probably saves your tires too.

Finally got around to fixing this.
Turns out it was the outer tierod end again.
Changed it, did an alignment and it's pretty good now.
The car still has a little vibration when I get into higher speeds.
That could be the wheels and tires though; I'll know soon...
I'll have new wheels and tires after the weekend.
